Los Blancos will kick off their LaLiga campaign tonight.
Espanyol will take on Real Madrid in a feisty Matchday 2 fixture of the LaLiga 2026-27 season at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The Barcelona-based side, despite winning their league opener last week, will face a tough test against a new-look Los Blancos side.
After failing to win any domestic or continental trophies last season, Real Madrid invested heavily in their squad and appointed Jose Mourinho at the helm. Yan Diomande joined from RB Leipzig for a record-breaking €125 million fee, and the Ivorian will make his Real Madrid debut tonight.
Espanyol secured a 3-0 win over Levante in their opening game. Roberto Fernandez scored a first-half brace, and Tyrhys Dolan added a late goal. The Parakeets will hope to emulate that performance against Madrid, although Manolo Gonzalez’s men will be heavy underdogs tonight.
