Matic to Manchester United and Neymar edges closer to PSG: European Transfer Weekly Round Up!

A Serbian beast is at at Old Trafford and not many fans have forgotten the effect the last one had on the Red Devils...
It's been almost a whole month since the summer transfer window opened and many teams quickly rushed to confirm their signings and get them used to their new environment on pre-season tours. The last few days have been slow in terms of transfer dealings, as managers and players are still negotiating hard to get their deals done in a highly inflated market.
The English Premier League may have been especially quiet this past week, but there was some major movement in Manchester where the Red Devils made their third signing of the season by bringing in Chelsea's midfield enforcer Nemanja Matic for close to £40m to reinforce their midfield ahead of the start of the season. Manchester City also continued their immaculate spending spree on defenders when they completed the signing of AS Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy, making him the most expensive Premier League defender at £52m.
West Ham United continued their impressive transfer business by completing the signing of Javier Hernandez for around £17.8m, which sees the Mexican return to the EPL three years after being let go off by United. Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley also completed a move to Burnley for less than £1m, while Newcastle United snapped up Borussia Dortmund midfield Mikel Merino on a season-long loan.
The biggest transfer news of the week comes from Italy where champions Juventus continue their transfer spending by signing promising midfielder Federico Bernardeschi for €40m from Fiorentina. The Bianconeri added him to their already impressive midfield which has been boosted by winger Douglas Costa's inclusion, while they had to let go off midfielder Francesco Cassata to Sassuolo for €7m. Fiorentina, meanwhile, have also signed midfielder Jordan Veretout from Aston Villa for €7m, while Udinese signed Anderlecht defender Bram Nuytinck for around €3m.

There was some business which went down in La Liga as well, as Villarreal signed midfielder Pablo Fornals for €12mi from Malaga. Getafe also got some decent deals done by signing Atletico Madrid defender Emiliano Velazquez on a loan, while Malaga replaced Fornals by signing Argentinian midfielder Emmanuel Cecchini for €4m.

French club Rennes made a major signing by bringing in young Senegalese winger Ismaila Sarr from Metz for €17m while Nantes also signed up Fiorentina goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu for a fee of around €2.5m. The whole world awaits news from PSG, who are being heavily linked with signing Barcelona winger Neymar for a world record deal.
