Vava of Brazil was the first to do so!

The FIFA World Cup has always been considered the pinnacle of international football. Only eight nations have been successful in securing the prestigious title till now.

The 2026 edition of the flagship tournament saw 1,248 players across 48 nations battling for the World Cup crown. It was the most amount of players and teams battling on the world stage.

Having won the FIFA World Cup five times, Brazil are considered the record winner of the mega competition. The Canarinho play an important role when it comes to setting up standards in this tournament.

Scoring in a World Cup final is one of the greatest achievements in the history of football. When it comes to scoring in two different finals, it is an even rarer feat. Since the inauguration of the flagship tournament back in 1930, only five players have been able to do so. This clearly shows how capable these players are when it comes to delivering on the grandest stage in world football.

Vavá of Brazil was the first one to achieve this feat. He first scored for the Canarinho in the 1958 FIFA World Cup final and he did once again in 1962. France’s Kylian Mbappe is the latest addition to the list, having scored in the 2018 and 2022 finals.

Mbappe is also the player with the most goals in the FIFA World Cup grand finales (4). He scored one in 2018 and a hat-trick in 2022 against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
