The Yellow Army had earlier come up with a lucrative offer for the full-back that he couldn't simply refuse to accept.

Kerala Blasters have signed former Bengaluru FC full-back Nishu Kumar on a four-year deal, Khel Now can confirm.

As revealed earlier by Khel Now, the Yellow Army had offered the 22-year-old a lucrative deal to sign with the club. As it appears, Kumar has agreed to sign for the club, thus snubbing his other suitors Mumbai City FC, Jamshedpur FC and Hyderabad FC apart from Bengaluru FC.

Moreover, the contract at Kerala Blasters, worth an estimate of over ₹5 crores, makes Kumar one of the highest paid defenders in Indian football.

Nishu Kumar has been among the top performing youngsters in the Indian Super League since the past two seasons. His eye-catching display for the Blues also earned him a call-up to the national team last year. In addition to that, his ability to play on either flank makes him a coach's dream.

Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters seem to lack a quality figure at the full-back position and Nishu Kumar's signing could prove vital for them. The AIFF Elite Academy product has produced some brilliant performances in the ISL this season, maintaining a nearly 70% passing accuracy throughout.

Interestingly, with another top performing defender, Jessel Carneiro in the team, Kerala Blasters' backline seems have become solid. It is only a matter of a few months until the new season begins and the Blasters' defence is shaping up as among the best in the league, at least on paper.
