The most important game of the week is in London where Tottenham host the newly-promoted Watford.

Matchday 2 of the Premier League 2021-22 season saw Chelsea crush Arsenal 2-0 at Emirates Stadium, while Manchester City returned to winning ways in style against Norwich. The other half of Manchester though played out a dull 1-1 draw at Southampton. Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham, however, built on their winning start with victories. Brighton also surprisingly, are in the top four with consecutive wins. Their results in the last two Matchdays would have certainly shocked some Fantasy Premier League players.

With Premier League Matchday 3 about to begin, which players will have the biggest impact, let's find out.

Week 2 Review

Liverpool and Chelsea comfortably registered three points, with Reece James’ haul of 18 fantasy points making him the most valuable star of the week. The West Ham duo of Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma also made a mark for themselves in the 4-1 rout of Leicester City, while Tyrone Mings stole the show for Aston Villa against Newcastle United.

Southampton’s surprising effort against Manchester United might have affected the majority of Bruno Fernandes holders, while Mohamed Salah and Son Hueng-min also failed to improve on their impressive Gameweek 1, despite their teams winning.

Week 3 Preview

Tottenham’s home outing against Watford would be of high interest. The possible return of Harry Kane makes the tie worth noting. Manchester City will take on Arsenal as Mikel Arteta tries to keep his team afloat. Manchester City players are bound to get a fair number of points, but Pep Guardiola’s rotation plans could prove detrimental to using anyone from the Etihad side.

Leicester’s clash against Norwich City could be another lopsided tie to make good use of. Liverpool versus Chelsea involves a lot of unreliable parameters. Wolves’ home game against the Red Devils could be a very tight affair and the latter could gain a clean-sheet.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3 XI

The goalkeeper of the squad would be David de Gea. The three-man defence includes Vladimir Coufal, Konstantinos Tsimikas and Tyrone Mings. In midfield, we have Son, Benrahma, Raphinha and Bruno Fernandes. Neal Maupay, Danny Ings and Jamie Vardy make up the attack.

Top Selections

1. Vladimir Coufal

Facing a Crystal Palace side that are yet to score this season, Coufal could prove to be a valuable player to have in your Fantasy Premier League team. The Czech full-back had a decent game against Newcastle and earned himself a neat assist against Leicester in Gameweek 2. He is likely to continue his marauding runs in attack, while quietly gaining points for a clean-sheet.

2. Danny Ings

Of the many truths in the world, there is none more valid than this – Danny Ings will score. He has found the net in both of Villa's games and has filled the Jack Grealish-shaped hole in Villa’s lineup, while also acting as the perfect target man. His acrobatics are eye-catching, but he also has the numbers to back it up.

3. Neal Maupay

Surprisingly, Neal Maupay has started his campaign for Brighton in stunning fashion, scoring two goals in two games and also leading his team to two victories. Facing Everton at home, he can easily be a key figure to score.

Top Captaincy Picks

1. Heung-Min Son

Tottenham are sailing along smoothly under Nuno Espirito Santo and the return of Harry Kane to the fold could mean increased overall offensive production and the biggest benefactor will be the South Korean. Next up for them are newly-promoted Watford and Son could produce big numbers.

2. Jamie Vardy

Vardy will be relishing the chance to set the field ablaze at Carrow Road. Norwich haven’t had a particularly smooth start and after the debacle at West Ham, Jamie Vardy will want to get himself and Leicester back on track.

3. Said Benrahma

The Algerian is on a roll. The former Brentford man has scored and assisted two each in total over the first two gameweeks. Against a Crystal Palace side who are still searching for a concise identity in the league this season, he could easily continue his brilliant form.

Key Unavailable players

In terms of points, Ayoze Perez is the only player that would be really missed. His red card against West Ham proved to be costly then and now. Scott McTominay would be a major miss for Manchester United, but it will not hurt the Premier League Fantasy players. Bukayo Saka is only probable against Manchester City.
