FC Bardez Goa qualify for Goa Police Cup semis

Armando Colaco's men make it to the last four thanks to a better goal difference...
Dempo Sports Club registered a 3-0 win over Sesa Football Academy but failed to make it to the last four from Group C of the Goa Police Cup after a match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. Dempo SC dominated the whole game and went into the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Joaquim Abranches and Felix Odili Chili. Just two minutes into the match Joaquim Abranches’ header from close distance missed the target. Soon after Milagres Gonsalves shot wide from inside the box. On 12 minutes the Golden Eagles finally opened the scoring. Nickson with the perfect cross from the right flank and Abrances was there to make it 1-0 for Dempo with his wonderfull header. In the 20th minute Dempo had another chance but Abranches' low shot went just wide of the post. Five minutes later Adil Khan tried his luck from 35-yards but Sesa keeper made no mistake and collected it easily Four minutes later Nigerian Chidi made no mistake to finish the long ball from skipper Shallum into SESA’s net. In the 42nd minute Chidi had a glorious chance to make it 3-0 for Dempo, but Sesa custodian Roanal Gaunkar pushed it for a corner. After the break Dempo had two chances to further boost their lead when in the 54th minute Chidi's shot from close distance was saved by the Sesa FA keeper while in the 57th minute Chika Wali’s header was easily collected by him. In the 82nd minute Shallum Pires'shot from inside the box was again pushed for a corner by the Sesa goalkeeper. In added time substitute Beevan D’Mello tapped the ball into the net to make it 3-0 for the Panjim side but it was not enough for them to make it to the Semifinals. FC Bardez Head Coach Armando Colaco was present in the stadium to witness the match and he was happy to see his team qualify for the semis on goal difference. They will now play Vasco Sports Club in the second semi-final on 16th August at Duler Stadium. The 63-year-old said “ I am happy. The boys had put in lots of effort to draw against Dempo SC and score 5 goals against Sesa FA.” In the other match played at Raia Panchayat Ground Vasco Sports Club were held to a 1-1 draw by Goa Police. The port side made it to final four with a better goal difference. The entire match witnessed an end-to-end affair.
