The newest edition of the popular gaming series has several top-rated footballers to choose from.
Women’s football has made remarkable progress in recent years and has attracted deserved viewership towards itself. In the last few years, Women’s football has been rightly recognised and the best women players of the game have now been receiving more recognition than ever. FIFA’s line of games introduced women footballers for the first time in FIFA 18 and since have increased their roster and included more players. With FIFA 21, gamers again have the option to play as their favourite female footballers.
This is the perfect opportunity to focus on the top rated women players from FIFA 21 that players will have the opportunity to play as. Here are the top-10 highest rated women players in FIFA 21:
10. Alex Morgan (USA) and Tobin Heath (USA) - 90
Alex Morgan is one of the most recognisable faces and has been the poster girl for women’s football way before it got the deserved recognition. At the age of 31-years-old, she is still one of the best players around and recently signed a lucrative deal with Tottenham Hotspur’s women’s team. Her attacking output was central to the USWNT winning the World Cup in 2019.
Tobin Heath also plays for the USWNT and has recently signed for Manchester United in the club’s hopes of replacing their highly-rated English midfielder, Alex Greenwood. Interestingly, Heath outsold any other male footballer in terms of jerseys sold after she signed for MUFC at the age of 32.
9. Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway) - 90
At merely 25 years of age, Caroline Graham Hansen is one of the most highly-rated players in Europe. The Norwegian plays for FC Barcelona and is one of the best-attacking wingers in women’s football who also likes to play as a forward for the Norwegian women’s national football team.
8. Eugenie Le Sommer (France) - 90
Olympique Lyonnais is a force second to none in the women’s game. The French club is the defending UEFA Champions League winner and their attacking midfielder Eugenie Le Sommer played a central role in the team’s success. The 31-year-old also plays as a striker for the France national women’s team on occasions.
7. Lucy Bronze (England) - 90
England’s highest rated woman player in FIFA 21 is their right-back Luzy Bronze. She plays for Manchester City in the Women’s Super League and was the first English footballer to win the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award in 2019. For a defender, that is an incredible feat.
6. Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany) - 91
Another top-rated player from Olympique Lyonnais is the German midfielder, Dzzsenifer Marozsan. The 28-year-old is the creative force for both the national team and her club and loves to employ herself in the No.10 role, owing to her brilliant passing vision and creativity on the ball. At 28-years old, she has made more than a 100 appearances for the German national team.
5. Amandine Henry (France) - 91
Amandine Henry is the captain of the French national women’s team and also plays for Olympique Lyonnais in the French division. A defensive midfielder by trade, Amandine is showing no signs of slowing down at the age of 31-years-old. She has won the UEFA Champions League six times with Olympique Lyonnais.
4. Vivianne Miedema (Netherlands) - 91
One of the best upcoming talents in Europe, the Dutch forward Vivianne Miedema plays for Arsenal in the WSL in England. The 24-year-old has won the league twice at Arsenal and has also won the Bundesliga twice with FC Bayern Munich and was part of the Netherlands national team that became European champions in 2017.
3. Wendie Renard (France) - 91
The highest-rated female defender in FIFA 21 is France’s, Wendie Renard. The 30-year-old is a towering presence at the back and has won over 33 trophies with Olympique Lyonnais, making her the most decorated women player out there. Still, at the top of her game, Renard is often compared to being as good as Virgil Van Dijk in the men’s game or vice versa.
2. Sam Kerr (Australia) - 92
The only non-European player to feature in the list is the massively talented Australian, Sam Kerr, who plays for Chelsea in the WSL in England. One of the most prolific strikers in the women’s game, Sam Kerr is also the captain of the Australian national football team. The 27-year-old was adjudged the PFA Footballer of the Year Award in 2019 and has won the honour a total of four times.
1. Megan Rapinoe (USA) - 93
Megan Rapinoe is unmissable as she has taken over from Alex Morgan as the face of women’s football. She is a strong, vocal advocate of equal wages and also has spoken unabashedly on various social issues. Megan is the driving force behind USWNT’s dominance in the women’s game and the midfielder guided the team to the World Cup triumph in 2019, winning the Golden Ball award in the process.
The 35-year-old is the captain of OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League and the United States Women’s National Team.
