Groups for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 in India were announced on Friday. Hosts India have been put in a challenging group alongside Brazil, USA and Morocco in Group A.
India will also kick-off the tournament (being the home nation) against USA on 11th October at the Kalinga Stadium. While the USA U-17 women’s team have never won the tournament or even qualified for a final, their Women’s Football scene is booming right now.
The Indian women’s U-17 will participate in their first-ever U-17 Women’s World Cup later this year at home turf. Managed by Women’s national team coach Thomas Dennerby, the young girls will hope to make their mark despite being placed in an intimidating group.

The USA women’s soccer team have won the Women’s World Cup four times in their history, including the last edition in 2019. Their U-17 team will be vying for a strong finish in the upcoming U-17 World Cup.
Brazil have also never won the tournament, but their roots in the beautiful game and history make them a challenging opposition nonetheless. Morocco became the first-ever North African nation to qualify for a U-17 Women’s World Cup. They can be the dark horse in the group.
Group B
In Group B, New Zealand – who finished third in the last U-17 edition – are in Group B. They will take on Germany, who finished third in the 2008 edition. The Germans have qualified for every single U-17 Women’s World Cup in history.
They will be accompanied by Chile and Nigeria, who have both participated tournament previously.

Group C

They face the very team they beat in the U-17 World Cup final in 2018, Mexico, in the group stages! Placed alongside the last edition’s two finalists are China PR and Colombia to cap off an exciting group.
Group D
The final group of the U-17 Women’s World Cup is filled with some major names. Former winners Japan and France have both been placed in the same group, guaranteeing entertaining matches.
