Germany U-17 booked their place in the round of 16 with an easy 3-1 win over Guinea U-17 in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 group C match played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Kochi earlier in the evening
The West African coach Souleymane Camara started his side with Doss Soumah and Seydouba Cisse in the front, shaping his side with commonly used 4-4-2 formation, while Germany’s gaffer Christian Wuck made the changes in wholesale after a shocking 4-0 defeat in the last match against Iran as Yann Bisseck and Josha Vagnoman made the first start. Whereas, Dennis Jastzembski, Nicolas Kuehn and Elias Abouchabaka were back in the Germans.
The Europeans had an early chance in the just 30 seconds after the kick-off when Ismael Traore brought down Jann- Fiete Arp on the edge of the box to give away the free-kick in the danger area but Yannik Keitel could not make most of it as the midfielder’s shot was easily blocked by the Guinea’s defensive wall for a safety.
However, a few minutes later, Arp made no mistake from the centre of the box to beat the Guinea keeper Mohamed Camara with a perfect right footer which entered the bottom-left making it 1-0 for the Deutschers.

Even after conceding an early goal, Guinea quickly regrouped and tried hard to find the equaliser and finally in the 26th their hard work paid as the West African found the leveller when Aguibou Camara’s powerful shot from inside the box was blocked by German defender but failed to clear the danger completely as the ball fell into the feet of Ibrahima Soumah who cut past a defender with a brilliant footwork before finishing the ball in the back of the nylons to make it all square.
In the last 15 minutes of the first half, Germany came close thrice but aimless shot and Guinea’s superb defending restricted the Germans from scoring. First, Jastzembski’s commanding shot was brilliantly blocked by Guinea’s Centre-back Traore to keep the danger away from his side. Ten minutes later, Jastzembski had the best chance to put his side ahead when he was in the commanding position in the box but the midfielder failed to control his shot from 10-yards. Later, Guinea keeper Camara came up with a brilliant save to deny’s stiff grounder from outside the box.
In between these, Guinea’s Elhadj Bah had an opportunity to take his side ahead in the 40th minutes but his half-volley from the edge of the box missed the target narrowly.
With neither side failing to break the deadlock for the second time, both the teams went into the breather with a goal each on their side.

Germany came out stronger in the second session and took just two minutes to create the first chance of the session but Guinea keeper came up with a double save as first he denied Abouchabaka’s shot from the close and later stood tall to stop Kuehn from scoring from the 6-yards.
However, he could not hold the opponents for a long as Kuehn once again put his side ahead in the 62 minutes when his left-footer found the net after receiving a through pass from Arp from the distance.
There was no difference in Guinea’s attacking attitude even after conceding the second goal as they continued to penetrate the German defence on regular intervals but failed their every move in the final third. At the other end, Germany also continued to break the Guinea`s defence but their custodian’s superb performance saved his side from further damage.
In the added time, Germany’s Sahverdi Cetin scored from the spot to make it 3-0 after Sekou Camara brought down substitute Jessic Ngankam in the box to give away the penalty to the European side. With this win, Germany confirmed their place in the round of 16, with finishing second in the group after Iran.
