We will deliver what the game demands- Colombia coach Orlando Restrepo

The Colombia boss has said his team have moved on from the opening day defeat against Ghana.

Ahead of his side’s second game in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in and against India, Colombia head coach Orlando Restrepo met with the reporters in a press conference. In the conference, Restrepo talked about his aims, strategies and necessary observations which will help his side to win their first match in the tournament.

The coach was asked about his take on Colombia’s next match against India, following their defeat in the opening game against Ghana. “The next match is always more important than the previous match,” he said confidently. “Ghana is the past and the boys are more competitive now,” he added.

Talking about his knowhow against the Indians, the Colombian gaffer made it clear that he has a plan in mind to execute in the next game. “We had the opportunity to play against India in Mexico before this tournament,” he said before adding, We are quite aware of the things out here and we know they are good players.” “We are looking forward to playing with them in a very nice manner,” the 61-years-old further added.

In the opening match of their respective group, Colombia started brightly but struggled towards the end while India caught up with the rhythm against USA in the second half. Talking about the late impact of India in the game Restrepo answered, “It just takes time to adapt things right. So, with the match with India, we are looking forward to every match as different.”

Elaborating his answer, the Colombia boss seemed confident against the Indian Colts, “Our boys will perform as per the need of the match. What the match asks for, we will deliver it,” he further added.

The Colombia head coach was asked if he had a particular strategy in mind to use against India, a delicate question which he handled rather perfectly. “There is a pressure you can say, to do better than the previous one. That is what we are working on,” he told. “They are working to make it better and better,” Restrepo added.

Answering to a question about needing to score more goals as the group leaders the USA are up in the table with a better goal difference, Restrepo seemed rather calm. “We are more concentrated on playing a fair game, to play a good game and to win it,” he answered.

Asked if the home support will make it harder for his side to defeat India tomorrow, Restrepo was rather straight forwarded saying. “The support does matter with people,” he concluded.
