FIFA World Cup 2026 updated bracket after Argentina vs Egypt in Round of 16

The Round of 16 stage of the FIFA World Cup will end on July 7.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 stage is nearing its end, with six teams already booking their places in the quarter-finals of the expanded 48-team edition in North America. Argentina became the latest team to progress to the last eight with a dramatic 3-2 win over Egypt.
The Pharaohs took a shock lead in the 15th minute via a header from Yasser Ibrahim. Lionel Messi then saw his penalty saved by Mostafa Shobeir. The African side doubled their advantage in the 67th minute through Mostafa Ziko.
La Albiceleste mounted a comeback through Cristian Romero in the 79th minute. Lionel Messi then equalised just four minutes later with a fine finish. Enzo Fernandez then scored a goal in stoppage time that proved to be the winner.
The result sealed the South American side’s place in the quarter-finals, where they will face either Colombia or Switzerland.
