Pakistan to feature in a four-nation football tournament in Maldives

The four-nation tournament may feature Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Pakistan
According to some reports, Pakistan men’s football team may feature in a four-nation football tournament alongside Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka in a football tournament scheduled for June 2026.
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has reportedly received an invitation from the FA Maldives to be a part of this tournament named “Independence Cup”.
Talks are currently ongoing between the PFF and the Maldives Football Association regarding Pakistan’s participation, with officials expressing optimism about sending a national squad.
Teams participating

The proposed four-nation tournament, scheduled to be held in Maldives from June 1 to 10, is set to bring together teams from across South Asia in Maldives.
Alongside Pakistan, Nepal national football team and Sri Lanka national football team and hosts Maldives national football team are expected to be the other participating sides, completing a competitive four-team lineup.
The tournament, which forms part of the Maldives’ Independence Day celebrations, is set to be branded as the “Independence Cup,” adding further significance to the event.
The invitation comes shortly after Pakistan wrapped up their AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign with a 2-1 victory over Myanmar national football team at the Jinnah Sports Stadium, providing timely momentum ahead of the potential participation in this regional tournament.
