City Football Group picked up to 65% stakes at the club earlier this season.
After a rather disappointing season in the Indian Super League, Mumbai City FC announced the departure of head coach, Jorge Costa on Thursday. The Portuguese tactician's contract expires shortly and as things stand, have not been renewed. The Islanders finished the 2019/20 Hero ISL campaign in fifth spot, just missing out on the final play-off position.
Speaking about the development, Indranil Das Blah, CEO of Mumbai City FC said, “We’d like to thank Jorge Costa sincerely for his immense contribution to the Club during his two seasons with us, including a memorable run to the play-offs in his first season. Everyone at the Club wishes Jorge well for the future.”

Jorge Costa replaced Alexandre Guimaraes at the beginning of the ISL 2018-19 season and qualified for the league playoffs. However, the following season turned bleak for the tactician as the Islanders failed to make it to the semi-finals and finished at the fifth place, three points short of fourth place holders Chennaiyin FC.
