Best bench options for FPL 2022-23
Having good substitutes is really important in the fantasy game.
The start of the Premier League and the new FPL season is just a few days away and the excitement levels are at an all-time high. While it is fun to own all the best players, but they are placed at a very high price tag. Some players may go for their favourite players in their starting lineup week in and week out. But it is very important to have a solid bench to tag in for the starting players every now and then.
Here we take a look at the best bench options for FPL 2022-23:
5. Nathan Patterson (Everton) - 4m
Patterson joined Everton from Scottish side Rangers in the January transfer window. The right-back only made one appearance in the second half of the season. But with Seamus Coleman now 33 and his constant injury layoff, Patterson looks all set to make over at the right back slot and is a great FPL asset to own at just 4m.
4. Liam Delap (Manchester City) - 4.5m
Delap made 5 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City last term. With the signing of Erling Haaland and Julián Álvarez, Delap will hardly get any game time next term. But fellow Premier League side Southampton are keen to sign the 19-year-old on loan or permanent basis. Manchester City recently rejected a £16m bid for the English striker by the Saints. But Ralph Hasenhüttl's side is ready to come back with an improved bid. If Southampton can land the young striker, he could play the same role as Armando Broja played last term.
3. Paulo Gazzaniga (Fulham) - 4m
The Argentina international goalkeeper made 15 appearances across all competitions last term. Although he was replaced by Slovakian goalkeeper Marek Rodák midway through the season. Rodak went on to make 33 appearances in the EFL Championship last term. But Gazzaniga remains the best at a starting goalkeeper at the 4m price tag.
2. Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest) – 4m
Djed Spence was a revolution in the right wing-back slot last term and played a massive hand in Nottingham‘s promotion to the Premier League. But he returned to his parent club Middlesbrough at the start of the season and is now close to joining Spurs. The club have signed Neco Williams from Liverpool for a fee close to £17 million. Williams is available at just 4m in the game and on top of that, he would be playing as the right wing-back. If all things go to plan, the Welsh right-back could end the season with a decent return to his name.
1. Andreas Pereira (Fulham) – 4.5m
Fulham‘s new signing Andreas Pereira is available at just a 4.5m price tag. Pereira enjoyed a very decent loan spell last term with Brazilian side Flamengo. The 26-year-old has been bought in to replace the outgoing Fábio Carvalho. On top of starting the majority of the league games, the midfielder can provide some decent attaching returns. He looks like a great bench and rotation option for FPL 2022-23.
