The gameweek 1 deadline is at 6.30 pm BST on 5th August.
The start of the Premier League is just over a week away and this also means the Gameweek 1 deadline for FPL is fast approaching. Some managers will have their teams locked in, while some will be constantly changing their teams again and again. A lot of Premier League clubs have already done their business for the summer. But a few sides are still looking to bring in new players and offload a few. This could also influence the happenings in the FPL world.
Previously we have discussed the best players to own in FPL 2022-23. We have also discussed the hidden gems, top bench players and the best bargain players for the FPL 2022-23 season. But today we take a look at the top 10 players to avoid on FPL 2022-23:
10. Conor Gallagher - 6m
The young English midfielder was on loan at Crystal Palace last term. He played the majority of the minutes in Patrick Vieira's side and accumulated a total of 140 overall points in FPL 2021-21. But this term, he has returned to Chelsea and there is no guarantee that he gets game time ahead of the likes of N'Golo Kanté and Jorginho.
9. Sergio Reguilón - 4.5m
The Spanish left-back was the first choice wing-back last season and looked set to maintain his place this term. But Antonio Conte had other plans. Ivan Perišić signed on a free transfer from Inter Milan and is set to be the first choice left wing-back heading into the new season. Ryan Sessegnon is set to continue as the second choice and Reguilon has been listed on the transfer market.
8. Declan Rice - 5m
The West Ham United captain is priced at 5m on FPL this season. The deep line midfielder racked up 95 overall points last term and is looking at a very similar return this season. At the 5m price tag there are many better options available like Aston Villa's Leon Bailey and Fulham's Andreas Pereira.
7. Eddie Nketiah - 7m
The 23-year-old striker broke into the Arsenal starting lineup at the end of last season. He recorded 5 goals in the league all coming in the second half of the season. Despite signing a new long-term deal at the club, Nketiah will be only acting as a backup to the new summer signing Gabriel Jesus. With limited game time and added completion, Nketiah looks like an avoid on FPL 2022-23.
6. James Ward-Prowse - 6.5m
The Southampton captain racked up 159 points in FPL last season and was his side's leading points scorer in the game. Despite being placed around a similar price tag at 6.5m, managers should avoid James Ward Prowse. The midfielder's points return are always unpredictably spread out and heavily rely on free kicks and penalties.
5. Bernardo Silva - 7m
The Portuguese star was on fire in the first half of last term and racked up a total of 155 points overall. But he lost his magic touch in the second half of the season and his FPL ownership dropped massively likewise. Silva is unlikely to feature on the wings this season and with the signing of Kalvin Phillips, there is more caption in the middle of the park. In addition, Silva has also drawn up transfer interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and there is a chance that he leaves Manchester this summer.
4. Dejan Kulusevski - 8m/ Richarlison - 8.5m
Kulusevski joined Spurs in the January transfer window and was on fire in the second half of last season. 5 goals and 8 assists in the league meant he accumulated a total of 99 points. But the signing of Richarlison for a reported $60m fee could mean limited game time for both players. While Richarlison can also feature as the striker, but his game time will be limited. On top of that, the Brazilian is suspended for the opening game of the season.
3. Philippe Coutinho - 7m
Coutinho has signed for Aston Villa on permanent basis after initially signing on loan in January. The Brazilian midfielder made an instant impact after joining Steven Gerrard's side. But his goal returns and involvement faded away as the season reached its end phase. Coutinho currently has 18% ownership among the global FPL managers. But with Leon Bailey's return to full fitness and top form, Coutinho could be formed out of the Aston Villa starting lineup.
2. Bruno Guimarães - 6m
Guimaraes was the marquee signing by the new Newcastle United owners in the January transfer window. The Brazilain joined for a fee close to €50m and recorded 5 goals and 1 assist in 17 Premier League appearances in the second half of last season. But the midfielder featured in a deeper role and looks set to continue in the same position. Guimaraes currently has 16% ownership in FPL 2022-23. But with better players available at cheaper price tags, Guimaraes seems like a definite avoid.
1. Darwin Núñez - 9m
Darwin Nunez recently signed for Liverpool in a club record £85m deal. The Uruguayan striker recorded 34 goals and 4 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions last term. With the sale of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich and Diogo Jota's injury, Nunez looks like a definite starter. But it may take the forward some time to adapt to the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp may also integrate the forward slowly into his starting lineup.
