Didier Deschamps is likely to make many changes against England.
France coach Didier Deschamps will almost definitely be without William Saliba for Saturday’s World Cup 2026 third-place playoff against England at Hard Rock Stadium.
France missed out on becoming the third nation to reach three straight World Cup finals. West Germany was the first, from 1982 to 1990, until Brazil accomplished the feat between 1994 and 2002. However, Les Bleus’ quest was foiled by Spain, who masterfully defeated the new World Cup favourites.
There will be several changes to the lineup when France face England in the third-place play-off.
France expected to make changes to their lineup vs England

According to early estimates, William Saliba, the centre-back, might be out for at least four months, which is a significant setback. Maxence Lacroix replaced him and will most likely start alongside Dayot Upamecano in the centre of the defence. Jules Kounde should keep his spot at right-back, but Theo Hernandez might replace Lucas Digne on the left.
There may be a change with Manu Kone returning to the lineup. He was pulled out for Aurelien Tchouameni last time, but it didn’t have the desired effect. Adrien Rabiot is set to stay in midfield, with Warren Zaire-Emery and N’Golo Kante forced to sit on the bench.
Didier Deschamps will undoubtedly want to end his career on a positive note. This is his final game for France.
Kylian Mbappé is expected to lead the charge, still seeking the World Cup Golden Boot. However, Rayan Cherki may start in place of Michael Olise at No. 10. Desire Doué might start ahead of Bradley Barcola on the left wing, while Ousmane Dembélé may stay on the right.

France predicted XI 4-2-3-1: Maignan (GK); Koundé, Upamecano, Lacroix, T. Hernández; Rabiot, Koné; Dembélé, Cherki, Doué; Mbappé.
