After the successful conclusion of the Quarterfinals, the 2026 FIFA World Cup has its semi-finals in place. The first game of this stage will be played between Spain and France, and the winner will be a strong contender to win the entire competition.

France are yet to lose a game in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They won all three of their group stage games and knocked out Sweden, Paraguay, and Morocco in the Round of 32, Round of 16, and quarterfinals, respectively. France have one of the most complete squads in the FIFA World Cup and have scored 16 goals in the tournament already. This is their third consecutive semi-final in a row, and they are on a seven-game unbeaten run at the moment.

Spain, on the other hand are the reigning European champions and defeated France on their route to winning this title. La Roja have seen significant improvement under the tutelage of Luis de la Fuente and have cliched wins against other European giants like Portugal and Belgium in the tournament already. Their star attacking duo, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, have not made that big of an impact yet, but stars like Mikel Merino and Rodri have stepped up for their national team.

Both Adrien Rabiot and Dani Olmo operate in the midfield but have completely different responsibilities for their respective teams. Rabiot is deployed as a defensive pivot whose job is to position himself well in order to neutralize any danger. Dani Olmo, on the other hand, operates as a connecter between Spain’s midfield and attack. He has been extremely consistent throughout the competition and has even registered an assist against Saudi Arabia.

Michael Olise had a breakout campaign with Bayern Munich as he registered 27 goals and 29 assists across all competitions. He is now considered amongst the best right wingers in the world, but have the versatility to operate centrally as well. He has played as a number 10 in the World Cup so far and will go head-to-head against Rodri throughout the game as the Spaniard usually plays as an anchorman, shielding the back line. The winner of this face-off will decide which team will create more chances throughout the game.

3. Lucas Digne vs Lamine Yamal

The third entry on our list is a clash on the wings between Lamine Yamal and Lucas Digne. Digne has been mainly a backup fullback with France under Didier Deschamps, but have thrived as a starter in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Lamine Yamal, on the other hand, is amongst the best players in the world right now. He has seen a meteoric rise over the past two seasons with FC Barcelona. He has only scored a single goal in the ongoing World Cup, but has been incredible in his overall gameplay.

Number two on our list belongs to a clash between the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, Ousmane Dembele, and brand-new Real Madrid signing, Marc Cucurella. Ousmane Dembele has registered five goals and two assists in the World Cup so far. He has a blistering pace and can get past his marker in a flash.

However, Marc Cucurella is an incredible one vs one defender, along with being effective In the final third as well. This contest will be of utmost importance considering the magnitude of the clash between these two European giants.

Topping our list is a clash between Kylian Mbappe and Pau Cubarsí. Both these youngsters face each other consistently during El Clásico as they represent Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, respectively. Kylian Mbappe has scored eight goals and given two assists in the World Cup so far, and is tied with Lionel Messi in terms of output. Pau Cubarsí, on the other hand, has played a crucial role behind Spain, keeping five clean sheets in the tournament. Both these players are key figures in the attack and defence of their respective teams.
