5-star Salgaocar thump Calangute Association in the Goa Pro League
The Portside registered their seventh win in the league.
Salgaocar FC’s U-20 star Ribhav Sardessai scored a brace, as they hammered Calangute Association 5-0 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today. Ronaldo Oliveira, Rollwin Almeida and Godfray Mascarenhas scored the other goals for the Greens.
The earlier clash between the two sides saw Salgaocar humiliate the Beachsiders 7-3. Calangute were in poor form as they were without a win in their last five matches. Goan FC had thrashed them 5-2 margin in the last match, whereas, the Greens were stunned by Corps of Signals in their last outing.
Salgaocar started the match on an attacking note and took 11 minutes to open their tally, as Ribhav brilliantly placed the ball in the net after getting a superb low cross from Rollwin to make it 1-0 for his side.
Pumped up by an early goal, Salgaocar doubled their lead in the very next minute, as this time Calangute defender Gaurav Vaigankar failed to clear a dangerous ball. Taking advantage of the same, in-form Ronald snatched the ball from the defender and calmly finished it into the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 12th minute.

Ribhav completed his brace in the 24th minute, when he was brilliantly fed by Ronaldo with a cross and the striker smartly nodded the ball home from close range. Godfray’s superb goal just before half-time put the Greens in the driver's seat.
Just before this, the Beachsiders also had a chance to reduce the margin, when Sachidanand Satelkar showed some brilliant footwork to dribble past two defenders and sent a pass to his teammate Mohammed Shahad in the box, but the lad failed to connect with it.

The rest of the half witnessed possession play from the Greens who also made a few raids on the rivals, but most of them ended before entering the box. Whereas, Calangute tried to fight back with some superb attacks, but Salgaocar keeper Nora Fernandes along with their defenders cleared every danger in their way.
