Corps of Signals register league double over Panjim Footballers

Corps of Signals did the double over Panjim Footballers following their 2-1 win in Goa Professional League on Saturday afternoon. The Armymen have now defeated Panjim Footballers in both their league fixtures this season, after beating them 1-0 in the reverse fixture. The win takes Corps of Signals up to 17 points from 18 matches while Panjim Footballers remain on 23 points from 16 matches. Panjim Footballers dominated the first 45 minutes however will have themselves to be blamed for Saturday’s results. After the lead, there were a series of chances for Panjim Footballers in the game. Chandan Gawas of the capital side found Krishna with a defence splitting pass, who however, failed to score. Llyod Cardozo and Lokesh were the other Panjim Footballers players who squandered easy chances in the first session. The Armymen used the wider areas to attack. During a counter attack, Panjim Footballers conceded a corner, which was brilliantly headed in by Romanse MS in the 51st minute. Corps of Signals were arguably the better side in the second half.
