It was a quite busy day in the Goa Pro League with two rather exciting encounters taking place.
Sporting Clube de Goa squandered a great opportunity to climb at the top of the table as they were held to a goalless draw against Vasco Sports Club in the GFA Goa Pro League, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. Sporting Clube de Goa missed the services of their leading goal scorer Marcus Mascarenhas and foreign recruit Philip which forced coach Savio to play U-20 players Stendly Fernandes and Shanon Viegas. However, Sporting Clube de Goa coach Savio made an early substitution which took everyone by surprise as he replaced Shanon with Akeraj Martins. An needless substitution which didn’t create an impact in the game. Sporting had just one chance in the first 45 minutes when George’s freekick was spilled by Vasco keeper which fell into Stendly’s path and the striker shot wide from touching distance. Sporting lacked creativity in the game while Vasco SC played more defensive. In the second half, Sporting had a rare chance from a corner but Peter Carvalho couldn’t direct George’s flag kick in the frame. The teams were tied 0-0 till the final whistle.
