Goa Pro League: Calangute hold Sporting, FC Goa draw with Guardian

FC Goa and Guardian Angel SC played out a 1-1 draw in the the second match of the day.
Sidharth Kundaikar scored a brace for Calangute Association as they twice came from behind to hold Sporting Clube de Goa to a 2-2 draw in the Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.
Calangute Association started with an attacking intent and had series of early raids putting pressure on Sporting Clube de Goa defence.
The first real chance of the game came in the 21st minute when Clive Miranda surged ahead and played a lobbed pass to Akeraj Martins, who took the ball on his right foot and fired a low shot, which was saved by the Calangute Association keeper Paramveer Singh. Calangute’s Akash Jadhav had a shot on goal which was easily swallowed by debutant Sanij Bugde.
Sporting Clube de Goa finally broke the deadlock which came from the boots of Philip Odogwu. Clive Miranda delivered a long throw in the box to Philip, who beat his marker Melvin Lobo, with a brilliant turn and connected a out foot shot to score past Paramveer Singh.
At the other end, Melvin nearly restored parity when he connected to a Nickson’s free kick, but his header missed the mark. Sporting’s Akeraj had one more attempt at the rival goal before the breather, but his rebound shot sailed over the bar.
Calangute came back strongly in the second half. They nearly got the equaliser when Melvin played a lobbed ball in the area to Daryl Costa, with only keeper at his mercy, his placed shot hit the post and came back into the play. Then it was Chaitan Dabholkar, who darted his way into the box and took a shot from acute angle only to be saved by Sanij.
Calangute finally were rewarded for their constant pressure in the 53rd minute. Daryl Costa made a fine run on the right flank beating Sporting Alton Vaz with his pace and on reaching the byline squared the ball in the six-yard box to Sidharth Kundaikar, who scored with a simple low shot into empty net.
Calangute keeper Paramveer came with a fine save to deny Alton’s header.At the other end, Calangute almost scored to take the lead from a set piece when Melvin’s header narrowly went over the bar. Sporting Clube regained their lead in the 67th minute when Assumption Soares sent a perfect delivery from a freekick to Alton Vaz at the far post. Alton fired a low shot across the face of the goal which was guided in by Marcus.
Calangute had a glorious chance to restore parity in the 86th minute. Domnic Fernandes got the ball at his feet from a corner kick. With just the keeper at his sight, Domnic fired his shot way over the crossbar. Calangute Association scored a late equaliser through Sidharth Kundaikar from a direct free-kick.
