FC Bardez go down to Cavelossim in their season-ender
Alvito Miranda shone with a hat-trick in Cavelossim’s victory.
FC Bardez ended their campaign with a massive defeat as they went down to Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim by 4-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier today.
With this win, Cavelossim has 15 points from 18 matches, while, Bardez finished their season with just 18 points from 22 matches.
Cavelossim who had lost to Calangute Association in the last round match had only one change as Rohan Kamble made way for Ashley Araujo in the starting XI, whereas Jessel Carneiro, Joywin Carneiro and Clinton Niasso were the back in the Bardez side which suffered a massive defeat to Churchill Brothers in the previous round match.
The first 10 minutes were restricted to the midfield play which ended with a swift attack from the from Cavelossim when their striker Alvito Miranda tried his luck from the distance but Bardez shot-stopper David Chauhan made a diving effort to deny the striker.
Though Cavelossim were the first to look at the goal, Bardez were the first to break the deadlock in the 17th minutes when Chatur Naik smartly finished the ball at the far post from just inside the box to take his side into the lead.
The Pink Brigade should have doubled their tally in the 24th minutes when Clinton was set up with just keeper to beat by Inacio Colaco with a through pass but the striker placed the ball wide from close.

Cavelossim quickly regrouped and came with an equaliser in the 26th minutes when Mathew Colaco smartly placed the ball in the goal from 6 yards to put his side on the level.
A few minutes later, Cavelossim also had a chance to double their led when Alvito made darting run but the striker was timely thwarted by Bardez keeper David in one-on-one.
However, in the 40th minutes, Alvito shot past keeper David from close after receiving a perfect through pass from Ashley to make it 2-1 for the South Goan club.
After an end-to-end play in the first 10 minutes of the second session, Alvito had another chance to inflate their lead when he was nicely fed by Mathew in the box but the striker’s shot was shot was brilliantly blocked by Bardez keeper David. At the other end, Bardez striker Chatur saw his lob shot rebound off the crossbar.
Cavelossim further puffed up their lead in the 64th minutes when Bardez keeper David blocked Allwyn Vaz’s shot, the ball rolled to Alvito who made no mistake from the 6 yards to make it 3-1 for the South Goans.

Bardez suffered another blow in the 81st when they were reduced to 10 men after their striker Clinton kicked Cayven Araujo as referee Melroy D’Souza quickly gave him the marching order with a direct Red card.
