The match featured five different goalscorers for the Red Machines.

Churchill Brothers-Vasco Sports Club was a crucial game for both teams. In the event, Vasco Sports Club suffered another defeat, as Churchill Brothers FC Goa hammered them 5-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Nagoa Panchayat Ground on Wednesday. The Vasco coach made two changes to his side which lost to Panjim Footballers in the last match. Micky Vaz and keeper Sanju Thapa were back in the lineup. Meanwhile, Churchill played without their foreign recruits, as Trinidadian duo Willis Plaza and Radanfah Abu Bakr were rested by Portuguese coach Fernando Ernando Jose Bernanrd Tavares. The Red Machines were lucky to take an early lead. Their forward Kivi Zhimomi made a tackle on Vasco defender Amit Das, but referee Tejas Nagvenkar who was out of position, gifted a penalty to Churchill. Lalkhawpuimawia made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-0. [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Down on morale due to poor refereeing by ISL referee Tejas, Vasco failed to regroup after the early blow and conceded another on the the half hour mark. Lalengzama Vangchhia produced a clinical finish from inside the box after the Vasco defence was easily beaten by the midfielder. The Port Towners had a chance to reduce the margin just two minutes later. Lalengzama brought down forward Suraj Mondal in the box to give away a penalty. But, Suraj failed to keep his spot-kick on target. However, Vasco managed to find the net in the 43rd minute. U-20 winger Altaf Navaloor nicely curled the ball into the box, which hit a Churchill defender and landed at the feet of Micky. He slotted the ball home from close range to make it 2-1. The second half started with midfield play where the Red Machines were the dominant side, as they had two quick opportunities, but Kivi missed on both the occasions. Wendell Coelho’s goalbound attempt was cleared by Vasco skipper Anil Goankar. But, his teammate Amit Das, in the process of clearing the loose ball, guided it into his own net to gift a goal to the rivals. Energized by the goal, Churchill soon broke Vasco’s defence once again. Lamgoulen Hangshing brilliantly cut past two defenders on the edge of the box and stylishly finished the ball in the back of the net to make it 4-1. The goalfeast continued for the Reds. Their substitute striker Schubert Pereira was brought down in the box by Vasco defender Olumide Olowolagba and referee Tejas quickly pointed to the spot. Another substitute Mauvin Borges smartly sent the Vasco keeper the wrong way to hammer a last nail in Vasco’s coffin. Click here for the Goa Pro League 2019-20 points table after this match.
