Greece will host the four-time World Champions Germany at the iconic Toumba Stadium. Both sides will lock horns in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League. Just a few days back, Greece defeated the Germans at home, winning the game 1-0.
This result shocked many people around the world. Now Greece will hope to do a double over the German national team when they face them again.
Greece have very much punched above their weight. They beat Serbia and Germany by playing confident football. They will be aiming to get more points when they take on Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Although their record against the Germans is poor, after their recent win, they will hope to get another over a top opposition.
Germany are very much hopeful that former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will turn around this situation of German football. It’s been more than a decade since Germany won an international competition. People are trusting Klopp to lead the team to glory.
But things haven’t been easy so far, as the results have been pretty disappointing. Pressure is building on the manager. Klopp needs to find a solution so that he can get good results in the upcoming matches.
This match will be a very tight and competitive fixture for sure.
Players to Watch
Vangelis Pavlidis (Greece)
He has done really well for Benfica so far. Fans and the manager are very happy with his performances. But somehow he hasn’t been able to replicate a similar performance while playing for the national team.
He is a lethal player who’s got a very strong goal-scoring instinct. Greece won’t be getting a lot of chances to score against Germany. Pavlidis have to make sure that he doesn’t miss those chances.
Joshua Kimmich (Germany)
The German midfielder has been criticised a lot after the World Cup, as the team’s performance wasn’t good enough. The German fans and the media are not happy with his performances so far, especially after the defeat to Greece. Kimmich is not a player who shies away from responsibility and is someone who leads the team by example.
Jurgen Klopp fully trusts him to help the team become better and get good results
