Gurpreet Singh Sandhu all set to make history as first Indian to play in Europa League
The shot-stopper is to be between the sticks when his side Stabæk Football take on Welsh outfit Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Europa League First Qualifying Round.
Norwegian side Stabæk Football take on Connah’s Quay Nomads in the First Qualifying Round of the Europa League later and India international Gurpreet Singh Sandhu will make his European debut in the encounter.
However, this is not just a personal milestone for the goalkeeper, as he will also become the first Indian to play in a major European club competition.
“As everyone knows no Indian has played in the Europa League before and I hope that all the youngsters in India look up to this kind of thing and look to come here,” Sandhu said speaking to Stabæk Media ahead of the game.
Stabæk come into this one on the back of two impressive friendly wins that both came with clean sheets and Sandhu was in buoyant mood stating that the team were confident of getting a good result in Wales.
