Kane won his first-ever Ballon d’Or.
The 70th annual Ballon d’Or ceremony, sponsored by France Football, honoured the world’s top football players for the 2025-26 season. The Ballon d’Or 2026 awards ceremony took place at the London Palladium Theatre in England on October 26, 2026, honouring the top players in men’s and women’s football.
Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane won the Men’s Ballon d’Or 2026, beating off strong competition from the likes of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe. The striker ended a 25-year wait for an English player to win the men’s top individual prize.
Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Ballon d’Or 2026. The former Barcelona Femeni midfielder, who now plays for the London City Lionesses, won this award for the third time, marking a historic achievement.

It’s Harry Kane! After Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the Bayern Munich striker became the fourth Bayern player to win the award after an incredible season for both club and country.
Kane helped Die Roten win the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the German Supercup in 2025–2026 by scoring 73 goals in 65 games for Bayern Munich and the England national team.
Since Michael Owen won the prize in 2001, Kane is the only Englishman to do so. He scored six goals in seven games while playing for the England national team at the most recent FIFA World Cup before Argentina defeated them in the semifinals.
The 2026 Féminin award was won by Alexia Putellas. At the London Palladium gala, the Spain midfielder won the coveted prize for a record-tying third time, adding to her trophies from 2021 and 2022.
She is now tied for the most crowns in the history of the women’s award with former Barcelona colleague Aitana Bonmatí, having won the trophy three times in a row.
