The experienced Indian tactician replaced Paulo Meneses who was relieved of his duties yesterday.

Experienced tactician Santosh Kashyap has been appointed the new head coach of reigning champions Aizawl FC. He replaces the recently sacked head coach Paulo Meneses. The Mizoram-based outfit parted ways with the Portuguese coach due to a string of unimpressive performances from the team. Aizawl have managed to obtain only 17 points from their 13 games in the league so far.

To fill in the void they have appointed a very experienced coach in Santosh Kashyap. The 51-year-old has been a former Mumbai FC and Mohun Bagan coach and the Aizawl officials have full confidence that he is the right man for the job.

Kashyap is indeed a very experienced coach in the Indian scene and is also an AFC Pro License holder. Apart from Mumbai and Bagan, the 51-year old has had managerial stints at Royal Wahingdoh, Salgaocar FC and others.

Kashyap had a stint to forget at Mumbai FC in the 2016/17 season where he left the team in dire staits seeing them eventually relegated and now out of business.

Here again, Kashyap has only a handful of games remaining and it will be difficult for him to turn the fortunes around for the reigning champions, who are currently sixth in the league table. Aizawl have only five games remaining and Kashyap will take charge from their next fixture against Shillong Lajong on 19th February.
