Upbeat Shillong Lajong rearing to maintain winning spree against Churchill
Lajong, on Monday, defeated Gokulam FC 1-0 and were quite dominating throughout the game with the young squad showing their worth in the top tier.
After kicking off with a meticulous win in the first match of the I-League 2017-18, now onus is on the Reds to carry on their winning spree at their home ground against Churchill Brothers FC Goa goa in their second home fixture on December 2, 2017.
Albeit the boys churned a win the other day, Shillong Lajong assistant coach Alison didn't seem to be very happy with the performance of the boys because according to him, they played what might be called "Good Football" but not "Attractive Football".
"For the next match, I expect my boys to play better and focus more on attacking", Alison expressed.
Alison also said that his boys have gained more confidence after the first win and have been training hard to make it two in two in their opening two home fixtures. “After the win on Monday, the boys have gained more confidence. But now our main focus is the next match against Churchill.”
“The boys have recovered well from the first match and we have been training hard. We are ready for our second home match,” Alison further added.
Although, the head to head record between the two teams lies in favour of Churchill Brothers with 2 wins while Lajong winning just once and two draws from the 5 matches played in Shillong, the home team is expected to bring the best out of their energetic youngsters and the experienced foreigners.
Churchill Brothers finished 6th behind Lajong in the last season and were defeated 1-0 in this fixture when they visited Shillong on 5th February 2017.
