Mohun Bagan set to sign Egyptian Omar Elhussieny as fifth foreigner
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder can play across the midfield and as a striker.
Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan have today revealed that they are set to sign Egyptian attacking midfielder Omar Elhussieny as their fifth foreign signing for the upcoming I-League season.
The player will come to Kolkata and shall undergo a complete medical and physical fitness test. During this time the Mariners' head coach Sankarlal Chakraborty will observe him and after the successful conclusion of the test, the club will sign him.
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder can play across the midfield and as a striker and has the experience of having played in some of the best leagues in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Omar started his career in his home country, playing for Sharkia Dokhan FC in two separate stints. The Egyptian then went on to play for two more Egyptian teams, before finally moving to Europe, where he joined FC Levadia, winning the Estonian Premium Liiga and Estonian Cup in his very first season.
Omar made 73 appearances for the club, scoring 12 times and assisting another 15. He won the Estonian Supercup in 2015 and finished as runners-up in the Estonian Premium Liiga in the same year, before once again seeking new challenges.
In Asia, Omar played for Persela Lamongan in the Indonesian league for a season. The experienced forward has also played UEFA Champions League football and scored in European football's top competition. Omar last featured for Zejtun Corinthians of Malta, where he made 10 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting another four goals.

[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]The Egyptian will become the fifth foreigner to pen a deal with Mohun Bagan and has been signed in consultation with head coach Sankarlal Chakraborty. According to the club, the player has applied for his visa today and is supposed to receive the same by Thursday, The midfielder will likely arrive in Kolkata on Saturday.
The club also revealed that they are in talks with another foreigner to sign him as their sixth overseas acquisition. The deal is yet to be finalised and the club shall announce the name of the player in the coming few days.
