Churchill Brothers set to appoint former player Edward Ansah as head coach
The Ghanian will be replacing Romanian tactician Petre Gigui.
Churchill Brothers are set to reunite with their former player, Edward Ansah this time as their head coach for the upcoming season.
He has ample amount of experience as he was Ghana's goalkeeping coach in two consecutive World Cups in 2006 (hosted in Germany), and 2010 (in South Africa).
Ansah's experience at the World stage will definitely help the players at the club as he replaces Romanian tactician Petre Gigui who could only inspire the side to a four placed finish in the I-League.
The Ghanaian will join the fold within next month and the club is all set to hand him the baton to assess the player recruitments for the upcoming season.
Apart from working with the Ghana national team, Ansah has worked under the guidance of top coaches like Claude Le Roy, Mariano Baretto and even former Thailand national team coach Milovan Rajevac during their tenure in South Africa and Ghana.
“Edward was always loved by the club and now he returns as our coach. He has lot of coaching experience since he left the club and his arrival will surely give us an edge. We expect him to take charge of the team soon, " club owner Churchill Alemao told to TOI.

During his playing days he was a crucial player for the Red Machines back in 1999 when he joined the club and stayed in Goa for five seasons. He played alongside his compatriots Yusif Yakubu and Osumanu Hussein and almost guided the Goan outfit to National Football League (NFL) victory in 2003. They lost the last match against eventual winners Mohun Bagan and missed the crown by a whisker.
He is also well known in Ghana and regarded as one of the best goalkeepers ever to play for the Black Stars. His nine-year-long service to the national team made him a respected figure in the country. He lost his place after that in 1994 and then again came back with rejuvenation in 2003 right at the twilight of his career.

The Red Machines showed promise in the last season and were title contenders along with Chennai City FC and East Bengal. However, they lost their way in the middle after losing to Shillong Lajong and could only manage a fourth-place finish in the league last season.
This time they will look to do even better and with Ansah's arrival, they may even look to clinch the title and bring back the glory to the shores of Goa.
