The 31-year-old has huge experience of playing in Italy.

After last term's debacle in the I-League, Mohun Bagan are eager to revamp their squad for the upcoming season and hence the Mariners have now said to have been interested on Senegalese striker Amadou Samb.

The 31-year-old Senegalese forward currently plies his trade in the Maltese Premier League for Gzira United. Samb has been in good goalscoring form and despite featuring in only nine matches in the league, the 31-year old has netted six goals along with two assists and inspired his side to a third-place finish in the league.

Samb has featured for lower tier clubs in Italy like Monza and Lumezzane in his career and went on to be featured for Serie B club UB Cremonese as well. The 31-year old has had a short stint at Italian Serie A club Chievo Verona and soon joined their cross,-town rivals, Hellas Verona. He was loaned out multiple times from there and has featured in the Albanian top tier club KF Teuta. Before joining Gzira United he was with Floriana FC, another top tier club in Malta.

After a torrid I-League season, the Mariners were on course for redemption and it started with the appointment of Spanish head coach Jose Antonio 'Kibu' Vicuna. Mohun Bagan's frailties in defence were evident however their forwards disappointed as well, as the former champions could only manage 27 goals last season. The lack of goals for the Mariners last season have forced their newly appointed head coach to look for a new striker in Amadou Samb to spearhead the Mohun Bagan attack.

Samb is a goal getter, his physicality and positioning in the final third are his key aspects. His daunting physical stature helps him win aerial duels with defenders and also makes him a primary threat from set pieces. The Senegalese forward is known for his goal-poaching skills and if the deal goes through then it will be interesting to see how he fares under Kibu Vicuna at Mohun Bagan.

Mohun Bagan have already announced Spanish defender Francisco Morante as their first foreign signing ahead of the upcoming season. The Mariners are gradually heading to the start of a new campaign which will begin with the Calcutta Football League followed by the I-League and only time will tell where the Green and Maroons will land.
