Mohun Bagan sign Spanish striker Salva Chamorro

The Spaniard continues a busy smmer of transfer activity for the Mariners and will be expected to deliver goals at the sharp end of the attack.I-League club Mohun Bagan have signed Spanish forward Salvador Perez Martinez, popularly known as Salva Chamorro. Having started his career as a reserve for Villarreal, he spent multiple seasons on loan at other Spanish clubs.

Born in Orihuela, Valencian Community, Chamorro has spent the vast majority of his career in the Spanish lower leagues starting out at Villareal 'B' then going on to represent CP Cacereno and CD  Teruel. In the summer of 2011 he signed with FC Cartagena still on loan from Villareal CF. He made his prefessional debut in a 0-2 away loss against Hercules CF and scored his first goal in the Segunda Division on 7 January to help defeat SD Huesca 2-0 at home, as the season ended in relegation.

Chamorro subsequesntly returned to Segunda Division B where he appeared for Villarreal 'B,'  CD Atletico Beleares, UE Llagostera and Lleida Esportiu. He helped the club earn promotion to the second level for the first time ever in 2014, netting 11 times, including in the playoffs. He joined Portuguese club Tondela in 2015 after leaving Spain, but struggled to make an impact in the first team.'Chamorro returned to Spain two years later after he signed a contract for FC Barcelona 'B' for a short stint. He has since tested his abilities in Portugal, Morocco and most recently with Greek club Doxa Drama where he scored four goals in 19 appearances last sseason.Mohun Bagan were unable to pose a challenge for the I-League title last season and as a result are looking for potential candidates in the transfer market to boost their squad strengh. Chamorro's addition to the attacking third is expected to help the team under newly-appointed head coach Kibu Vicuna.
