The Spaniard has formerly been associated with the likes of FC Pune City, Punjab FC (then Minerva Punjab) and Shillong Lajong.

Mohammedan SC have announced Jose Hevia as their new head coach for the upcoming edition of the I-League. Hevia is a Spanish national and has over 25 years of experience in management. The 48-year-old made his first foray into Indian football when he was signed by former Indian Super League (ISL) outfit FC Pune City in November 2014. Hevia was tasked to be the Technical Director of the club’s academy and built the project, before parting ways with them 19 months later.

In January 2017, Punjab FC (then Minerva Punjab) recruited the tactician as their Head of Youth Development. Later that year, he became a part of the collaborated venture between Celtic Soccer Academy and Madhya Bharat Sports Club in Bhopal. In March 2019, Hevia was brought on board by Shillong Lajong as the technical director of coaching and youth development.

Overall, the UEFA Pro License holder has gained plenty of experience in Indian football in the previous decade. In Spain, he has had stints with clubs like FC Inespal, FC Santa Teresa, FC Manuel Rubio, FC San Claudio and FC Gigantes among others. Earlier this month, Mohammedan SC sacked their head coach Yan Law midway into the I-League Qualifiers. The AFC ‘A’ License holder was blamed for not complying with the officials of the club with respect to the selection of certain players.

Assistant coach Saheed Ramon took over the reins for the rest of the qualifiers and ensured that the Black Panthers secured promotion to the second tier. Mohammedan SC are slated to begin their pre-season preparations from the first week of November.
