Gokulam Kerala rope in Cameroonian centre-back Aminou Bouba
The 30-year-old has prior experience of playing in Cameroon, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Guinea.
I-League defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC have completed the signing of defender Aminou Bouba, Khel Now can confirm. The centre-back has agreed terms and signed a one-year deal with the Malabarians.
"Aminou Bouba has joined Gokulam Kerala. He put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the club. An official announcement confirming the signing is in the works," sources close to the development informed Khel Now. Bouba arrives at the Kozhikode-based outfit as a replacement of their captain Mohamed Awal, who parted ways with them recently.

About the player
Aminou Bouba is an experienced defender. He has plied his trade in Cameroon, Tunisia, Algeria and Guinea in Africa. He has also featured in Asian football, having represented a number of Saudi Arabian clubs between 2015 and 2018.
Hailing from Cameroon, Bouba began his career at PMUC Sporting Club de Douala's youth setup. In 2011, he signed for Cameroonian top-division club Coton Sport de Garoua and played there for three years. The defender has also played for the likes of Esperance Tunis (Tunisia), CS Constantine (Algeria), Saudi Arabia-based Al-Khaleej, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Tai, Djiko FC de Bandjoun (Cameroon) and Horoya AC (Guinea).
While at Esperance Tunis in the 2013-14 season, he won the Ligue Professionnelle 1, the top-tier league in Tunisia. The left-footed centre-back will play for Gokulam Kerala in the 2021-22 season.
Gokulam Kerala's pre-season preparations
The Malabarians have a very busy and important season ahead of them. Their men's team will defend the Durand Cup and I-League, while their women's team will feature in the inaugural AFC Women's Club Championship and defend the Indian Women's League (IWL).

The men's team will also play in the AFC Cup at the end of the season. As a result, they have already started their pre-season preparatory camp.
Over the course of this summer, the Malabarians lost several key players in CK Ubaid, Sebastian Thangmuansang, Naocha Singh, Jestin George, Salman Kalliyath, Shibil Muhammed, Awal, Nimshad Roshan, Lalromawia and others. Technical Director Bino George also left the club to become the head coach at Kerala United. To compensate for this, they have roped in many new players, including Rakshit Dagar, Krishnananda Singh, Charles Anandraj, Beneston Barretto, Shoib Akhtar, Akbar Khan and Deepak Singh.
Aminou Bouba is the latest recruitment made by Gokulam Kerala. As per I-League norms, the club will make two more overseas signings while Afghan midfielder Sharif Mukhammad has been retained.
