About the player

Chetri was part of the India U-16 team that took part in the AFC U-16 Championship in 2016. Afterwards, he joined the AIFF Elite Academy and prepared for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Chennaiyin came calling soon after and he signed for their Reserves' team.

He made his Second Division League debut for the CFC Reserves in the 2017-18. After making 13 appearances in the league across two seasons, the forward joined Indian Arrows on loan ahead of I-League 2019-20.

In the league that was discontinued midway through due to COVID-19, Aman Chetri made nine appearances for the Arrows. He also registered an assist, during a 2-1 win over Churchill Brothers. Ahead of the 2020-21 season, the 20-year-old returned to the Marina Machans where he earned promotion to the first-team. Subsequently, he got called up to the CFC matchday squad for five ISL games, but could not make his league debut.

With his time at Chennaiyin FC running out, Chetri is now set to move to Rajasthan United in a bid to revive his career. It has been over one and a half years since he last played a competitive fixture.

Aman Chetri has also played for India at the U-19 level.

Rajasthan United's pre-season preparations

Following a series of stellar performances in the I-League Qualifiers, RUFC will make their debut in the I-League this season. Led by head coach Vikrant Sharma, the club were undefeated throughout their qualification campaign.

Rajasthan United are now actively at work, trying to add reinforcements to their squad so as to get themselves ready for I-League 2021-22. In what can be deemed a major coup, they recently completed the signing of former ISL Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner Marcelinho Leite Pereira as reported by Khel Now.
