The 20-year-old made four appearances for Aizawl in the 2020-21 season.
Newest team in the block to join the I-League, Sreenidhi Deccan FC are building a formidable squad ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 season. Khel Now can confirm that their latest addition to the squad is Lalchungnunga, who has signed a multi-year contract with the club after parting ways with former employers Aizawl FC.
“Sreenidhi Deccan have secured the services of Lalchungnunga. The defender agreed terms and recently signed a two-year deal with an option to extend by another year,” a source close to the developments informed Khel Now.
The 20-year-old began his professional football career at Aizawl FC. He was initially a part of their youth setup, before earning a promotion to the senior team ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Lalchungnunga was picked for their matchday squad in eight I-League games but could not make his debut in that season. He finally made his debut appearance for the club in the 2020-21 season, starting against NEROCA FC in a 2-1 win on January 30.
The centre-back went on to make three more starts in the I-League, before joining Sreenidhi Deccan FC ahead of the forthcoming 2021-22 season.
Sreenidhi’s pre-season preparations
As already mentioned, Sreenidhi Deccan FC are working hard to make a good first impression in the I-League. Based out of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the club gained a corporate entry to the league, as was announced officially in 2020.
Sreenidhi Deccan have already made several new signings in the summer. Following the appointment of Santiago Varela, the club announced the arrivals of goalkeeper Ubaid CK from Gokulam Kerala and defender Dinesh Singh from TRAU FC. Similarly, they have also signed the likes of Shibin Raj Kunniyil from Churchill Brothers and Shibil Muhammed from Gokulam Kerala.
