I-League new entrants Sreenidhi Deccan FC sign midfielder Suraj Rawat

The outfit is gearing up for the upcoming 2021-22 season of the league.

Sreenidhi Deccan FC have announced the arrival of midfielder Suraj Rawat ahead of their debut campaign in the I-League. The promising player is a former Mohammedan SC player who joins the club ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The new entrants in the league are diligently identifying the right set of players to build a strong squad. They intend to field an energetic young team when the season arrives later this year. Suraj Rawat fits the profile of the kind of player the outfit is bringing in.

Career so far

Suraj Rawat is only 22-years-old and has a promising career ahead of him. The midfielder featured for Kerala Blasters reserves in the I-League 2nd Division in the 2018-19 season, scoring five goals for them. His performance meant he was promoted to the senior squad, for whom he made two appearances in the Indian Super League.

Rawat came on as a late substitute in 1-0 defeat to FC Pune City during the 2019/20 season. That was one of his two short cameos at the club as the opportunities were less to showcase his talent.

He moved to Indian Arrows on loan in the next season and played only four games. Mohammedan SC came calling for him ahead of the 2020-21 campaign. This is where Rawat played extensively, featuring in 15 games for the Kolkata-based club.

Suraj Rawat is extremely versatile. He can play in multiple positions in the midfield as well as a striker on occasions. He will bring solidity and physical presence in the heart of the midfield for Sreenidhi Deccan FC.

Sreenidhi Deccan's pre-season preparations

As mentioned earlier, Sreenidhi Deccan FC have been very active in the transfer window till now. They have already appointed former Gokulam Kerala & Churchill Brothers head coach, Fernando Varela ahead of the upcoming campaign. Among other notable arrivals, Ubaid CK, Dinesh Singh and Lalromawia has already joined the club. 

Suraj Rawat is another addition to an exciting squad. It will be interesting to see the brand of gameplay Sreenidhi Deccan FC displays in the upcoming season. The unknown factor associated with them could go in their favour when the 2021-22 season kicks-off.
