Delhi Dynamos go down fighting to Hindustan FC
A single goal made all the difference in this National Capital Derby.
Delhi Dynamos lost at the hands of Hindustan FC 1-0 in an I-League Second Division match played at Ambedkar Stadium earlier today.
Despite the unfavourable climatic conditions, Hindustan engaged in good build-up play in the first few minutes, but they didn’t create any clear-cut chances. Delhi Dynamos then took control of the game and their goalkeeper Sukhdev Patil produced some good saves. In the early three minutes of the game, Delhi let go of an easy chance to open the scoring as Nonganjba Singh failed to send home a tap-in opportunity.
Soon after, Dynamos failed to score from a corner-kick as Maneshwar Mushahary, with his amazing defending skills saved the ball from falling into the net. In the 37th minute, Hindustan player Nitesh Chikara threatened to open the scoring, but sent the ball wide instead.
The first goal came for Hindustanjust two minutes later when Delhi keeper Patil couldn’t stop a header from Thomyo L. Shimray. With this goal Hindustan took a lead into the break
The second half saw a much dominant Dynamos roaring for an equaliser but they failed to do much harm to the much more experienced Hindustan outfit. Hindusta could have sealed the match in their favour in the 72nd minute, but the long ranger thumped by captain Kundu went above the net.
