Sreenidhi Deccan sign Colombian forward David Castaneda Munoz

The Colombian forward will make his debut in Indian football from the 2021/22 I-League season.

Sreenidhi Deccan have announced the signing of David Castaneda Munoz. The Colombian will add more firepower to the attacking department after signing for the I-League outfit. SDFC will take part in the upcoming season of the league which will take place in a bio-bubble in Kolkata later in 2021. The outfit have been very busy building a capable squad of the league and Muñoz’s addition will add to their chances of success.

The forward will hope to score a lot of goals and make an instant impact for his new team. He was most recently playing for Zakho SC in Iraq. His contract with the Iraqi outfit ended in September 2021. He will now make his debut in Indian football and the anticipation is high among the fans of his new team.

South American flair

David Castaneda Munoz has played majorly in the Colombian league system and brings South American flair with him. The 26-year-old forward has played for clubs like Atlético Nacional, Boyacá Patriotas FC, Cortuluá, Fortaleza CEIF, Real Santander and more across the first and second division in Colombia.

He has recorded over 35 appearances across the board, scoring eight goals and providing one assist. The center-forward has played about 1,558 minutes of football and will hope to add more playing time in India.

The 26-year-old is in prime fitness and will certainly bring buckets of energy to the I-League. The competition will be a change of pace for the Medellin-born player.

Ambitions of the club

Sreenidhi Deccan will be playing their debut campaign in the I-League from the 2021/22 season onwards. The club have been proactive under the guidance of manager Fernando Santago Varela. He has previously worked with Gokulam Kerala and will use his knowledge of Indian football to good effect.

The Vizag-based club have assembled an interesting group of players ahead of their debut season. It will be interesting the style of play and the combinations the team will display when the league gets underway.

David Castaneda Munoz is a promising addition to the team. Domestic forwards like Suraj Rawat, Malsawmzuala and so on will definitely pick up invaluable inputs and develop their own game. Munoz is their first foreign signing as well, therefore the expectations are high from the Colombian.
