Delhi Dynamos FC head coach Gianluca Zambrotta's joy knew no bounds following a 2-0 win in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League encounter against FC Goa at Fatorda's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday evening. Super-sub Marcelinho and Richard Gadze scored in quick succession in the second half to hand the Lions their second win of the season in seven games, which also put them third in the standings. “Marcelinho is very important for us and he has played very well so far and he needed recovery so that was the reason behind not starting him and bringing him on in the second half, and I also think Badara [Badji and Kean [Lewis] did well after coming on and I am very happy with the team's performance,” Zambrotta told reporters after the game. Delhi started their 2016 Hero ISL campaign with a thumping win against defending champions Chenniayin FC but after that they waned inexplicably, picking up four draws and a loss in their next five games. When asked how he felt after finally registering a win, the 39-year-old said: “I didn't have any problem with the draws because the other teams also played well and we also created opportunities to score. But it was pleasing to win the match today.” Hero-of-the-Match Anas Edathodika, who made a return from injury in Delhi's previous game against FC Pune City, also attended the press conference and expressed happiness at his team's first clean sheet of the season. “This was a difficult and important match for us and they are a good team and we respect them and the team was fully prepared for this match, and it was important for us to get the three points,” Edathodika said. Edathodika was also thankful to Zambrotta for supporting him all through his recovery period. “The coach has backed me and the physios and doctors have done a great job,” he said. Fifth minute into the match, Edathodika came to the Lions' rescue through a goal-line clearance. Talking about that, the 29-year-old said: “That is my job and if I will not clear the ball then there is no use me being a defender and regarding how crucial it was, it always depends on the situation.” Report and Photo © ISL Media [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Latest News
