ISL 2026-27: Bengaluru FC fixtures for Phase 1

A sense of optimism is enveloping the southern part of the Indian subcontinent as the start of the new Indian Super League (ISL) season beckons for Bengaluru FC and coach Pep Munoz.

The Blues will be kicking off the 2026-27 campaign with a home fixture against Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on October 10.

Bengaluru FC will be part of a 13-team league this season, with the competition returning to the traditional home-and-away format a change from last campaign. Coach Pep Munoz and his men are among the clubs who will be playing across 78 matches scheduled in Phase 1, which will run until January 17, 2027.

It will be interesting to see how the club responds to new challengers and fresh competition after a summer of overhaul and recruitment to get the club back to competing at the very top.

The new season represents an opportunity to build on their fourth-place finish in the 2025-26 season, where they finished three points off the league winners, East Bengal FC.

The Blues will continue under Pep Muñoz, who took charge in the middle of the previous campaign and now has the benefit of a full pre-season with the squad.

Blues aiming to make Sree Kanteerava a fortress

The Blues will be tested well in their first encounter against Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on October 10. The fixture will also be the opening game of the new ISL season, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 PM IST.

Home fans certainly will play a huge role in how the team performs, as they would be demanding nothing short of a win on Saturday. Bengaluru FC will have to navigate a demanding schedule during the opening phase, with clashes against several tricky and tactically astute ISL opponents.

The return of the home-andaway format also means every fixture carries greater significance, which means Sree Kanteerava will have to be a fortress to accumulate points and climb up the standings.

November FIFA Window Makes Each Game A Must-Win

The ISL action will also temporarily hit the pause button during the November FIFA international window, which means no games between November 7 and November 20. Phase 1 will eventually conclude on January 17, with the top six teams progressing to the playoffs. The first four games of the season will see the Blues take on SC Delhi, Chennaiyin FC, NorthEast United FC, and FC Goa, before the international break.

Coach Munoz will be hoping for at least 9 points out of a possible 12 available during that early stretch. The Blues have also revamped their squad during the summer, bringing in a whole new foreign contingent while retaining several key members of their Indian core like Sunil Chhetri, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, and Ryan Williams.
