The Junior must win to process to the Quarterfinals...
India will have to try hard to get into the quarterfinals of the AFC U-16 Championship when they face Asian powerhouse Iran in a do-or-die match in front of their home crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,Fatorda , Goa today. Iran can expect a tough test against the Junior Tigers as they have played promising football against the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in their last two matches. Indian tactician Nicolai Adam wants his side to play the same style of football against the Middle East team. The only worry for the German coach will be his wobbly defense. “Going into the match we are definitely not the favourites just like we were never the favourites in the group. But, like any other team we play to win every match and no team is unbeatable,” said Adam While Iran need just a point from this match to get through from the group. Abbas Chamanian’s side has experienced mixed form recently, winning against Saudi and drawing with the UAE, but still sit joint-top in the table. Team News Adam will be under tremendous pressure to get a result from this match following a defeat and a draw in the first two matches. But we can expect the same starting XI for India. Goalkeeper Dheeraj Moirangten will be high on confidence as he has saved two spot-kicks in last two matches. Suresh Wangjam will lead the team from midfield, while Sanjeev Stalin, Amarjeet Singh, Komal Thatal and Aniket Jadhav will support midfield play. Aman Chetri will be the lone striker for the Junior Tigers. While two changes can be expected for Iran. Alirez Asadabadi who scored consecutively in two matches after coming from the bench could replace striker Allahyar Sayyad. Iran Coach Chamanian could also think of introducing midfielder Alireza Savari. Rest of the Iran team will remain the same. Match Prediction As one of the favourites of the tournament Iran has the upper hand against the hosts. But like the last match, electrifying support from the home fans and good defending could see India triumph.
