How can FC Goa line up against FK Arkadag in AFC Champions League Two Preliminary Stage?

A big test awaits Indian clubs at the continental stage as Super Cup champions FC Goa and ISL champions East Bengal FC get ready to play their AFC Champions League (ACL) Two Preliminary Stage match with the ACL Two 2026-27 group stage spot on the line.

FC Goa travel all the way to Turkmenistan to face FK Arkadag, the champions of Turkmenistan. The Gaurs will play them at the Arkadag Stadium in Turkmenistan with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 pm IST. This match will pose to be a tough challenge for FC Goa as they start a new era under head coach Gouramangi Singh.

FK Arkdag competes in Turkmenistan’s top-tier league and are the reigning champions. The Turkmen side was founded in 2023 and have since enjoyed good success. They won the inaugural AFC Challenge League in 2025 and also qualified for the ACL Two knockout stage last season, where they were eliminated by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

Lara Sharma – GK

With Hrithik Tiwari being left out of the squad for FC Goa, the question now arises that who will start in the goal for the Gaurs. There are three options, Bob Jackson Raj, Lara Sharma and Lionel Rymei, from these names Lara Sharma might be the name who starts in goal for them.

However, it is very possible that Bob Jackson starts ahead of him in the clash against FK Arkadag.

Saveme Tariang – LB

Saveme Tariang has recently joined FC Goa ahead of the 2026-27 season after having a wonderful IFL 2025-26 season with Shillong Lajong FC.

The 23-year-old left back might get his debut for FC Goa with not many options in the squad and Gouramangi Singh will look to get the best out of him.

Alex Zalaya – CB

Alex Zalaya is most certainly starting the game against FK Arkadag with the experience he brings with himself. Alex is expected to have a centre back pairing with Indian defender Sandesh Jhingan and will look to create a good partnership with him.

It will be interesting to see how the new centre back pairing works for the Gaurs. It is expected that Alex Zalaya will start the highly anticipated match against FK Arkadag.

Sandesh Jhingan – CB

Sandesh Jhingan will be a key player for FC Goa, especially while defending the all-out attacks of FK Arkadag and giving FC Goa an advantage during set pieces. The India international brings with him tremendous experience of playing at the big stages and that’s something the Gaurs will very much need against the Turkmenistan champions.

He is expected to FC Goa and will most certainly start the highly anticipated clash against FK Arkadag in Turkmenistan.

Ronney Wilson – RB

With Boris Singh departing the club, the right back spot is something that can be a little tricky especially with players like Nim Dorjee and Seriton Fernandes not playing many games last season. However, the 23-year-old Ronney Willson maybe the answer to this right back problem.

Ronney played 3 games last season for the Gaurs in ISL and also featured in the ACL Two twice. With his ability to play both as right sided centre back and right back, he may be the one who starts for the Gaurs against FK Arkadag.

However, it is possible that someone else starts ahead of him in the right back spot.

Alex Vallejo – CDM

Alex Vallejo is expected to anchor the midfield as the defensive midfielder against FK Arkadag. The Spaniard’s experience and composure in the midfield will be key for FC Goa to stop FK Arkadag before even making it to the final third.

His ability to provide defensive cover while helping the Gaurs build from the back can give them a much-needed balance in a high-stakes fixture against FK Arkadag.

Tomba Singh – CM

Tomba Singh joins FC Goa after having a good season with the Inter Kashi FC side and also India U-23 last season. The midfielder will be key for FC Goa as they move into the 2026-27 season with multiple players departing the club.

Against FK Arkadag, Gouramangi Singh is expected to trust and start Tomba in the midfield alongside Vallejo and Franchu. This high-stakes game can be the one where the Indian midfielder makes his FC Goa debut.

Franchu – CAM

When Franchu arrived last season for Kerala Blasters FC in the second half of the season, Kerala Blasters’ campaign came to life. The Real Madrid youth product scored 2 goals and provided 3 assists in 6 games for the Blasters and completely changed their season’s trajectory.

With Franchu joining FC Goa now, it is expected that he will take charge of the creativity and look to make an impact. With the experience Franchu brings, he should be starting for the Gaurs against FK Arkadag as an attacking midfielder.

Isak – LW

FC Goa’s latest arrival Isak, is likely to start as the left winger for FC Goa against FK Arkadag. The prolific winger brings immense quality in the attack with his pace and ability to dribble past defenders.

Gouramangi Singh will look to start Isak as the left winger and hope to get the best out of him.

Udanta Singh – RW

Udanta Singh is expected to start at the right-wing spot against FK Arkadag, and his pace could be a major weapon for the Gaurs.

The experienced winger can stretch the opposition defense with his in behind runs and also the ability to create chances. With a tough match on the cards, Udanta’s experience can be very crucial for the Gaurs.

Chiki – CF

Christian ‘Chiki’ Isabel is most likely to start as the centre forward for FC Goa against FK Arkadag. The 29-year-old Spaniard possess immense quality up front and will be very crucial for FC Goa.

He brings a huge experience of playing in Spanish club football at multiple levels such as the LaLiga 2 and head coach Gouramangi Singh will be hoping that he contributes to his best with the experience he has.
