The points table in Group D of the AFC Champions League Two is almost set, with the top two teams ahead, and FC Goa are far from those spots. The Gaurs suffered another defeat on Thursday, and their winless run continues in the competition.
FC Goa played with 10 men for most of the game after Ayush Chhetri was shown a red card in the 34th minute. The Gaurs made a comeback to equalize in the second half, but could not hold the opposition from regaining the lead.
Al-Nassr and Al-Zawraa on top
The victory against FC Goa has helped Al-Zawraa strengthen their position in Group D. With this win, the Iraqi club has nine points in the bag, and they are six points behind Al-Nassr who are at the top with fifteen points. FC Istiklol occupy the third position with six points and their qualification for the knockouts is a tricky proposition.
Istiklol will face FC Goa in their last group stage match, but they require a mammoth win to bridge the gap in the goal difference, besides Al-Zawraa’s loss against Al-Nassr. Al-Zawraa have a positive goal difference of one while Istiklol have a negative goal difference of seven.

FC Goa in shambles
FC Goa’s return to Asia has been a tragedy with five straight defeats. The Gaurs have not been able to break this series of losses and continue to stay at the bottom of the table. The Manolo Marquez-led side has shown resilience and brilliance on some occasions, but it is not enough to collect points.
Goa’s last opportunity to avoid a whitewash will be against FC Istiklol on December 24. The match will be played at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. The Gaur Army would want to close this disastrous campaign with some moments to cheer.
