Ratings: Goddard, Amrinder shine as Odisha FC bid farewell to AFC Cup

Odisha FC failed to register a herculean comeback in this AFC Cup tie.
Odisha FC settled for a draw against the Central Coast Mariners in their second leg of the AFC Cup 2023-24 inter-zonal semi-final at the Kalinga Stadium on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Although both teams had opportunities, neither managed to convert them into goals, resulting in a goalless draw. As a result, Odisha FC’s campaign in the AFC Cup 2023-24 has now come to an end, with Central Coast Mariners advancing to the next round.

Amrinder Singh – 7
Amrinder demonstrated exceptional precision in his positional play and effective saves during the match. In the face of potential threats, he exhibited composure and astuteness in securing the ball.
Amey Ranawade – 6.5
Ranawade performed adequately in the defensive role, delivering the required tackles and passes. However, much better displays could have been showcased by him in the latter part of the match.
Mourtada Fall – 7
Mourtada looked a bit out of touch in the first half but improved his game in the second.
Carlos Delgado – 6
Delgado experienced a challenging day on the field. During the first half, he lost possession of the ball once, which could have resulted in a goal. Additionally, he committed a foul in the box, leading to a penalty for the opposing team. Luckily, Mikael Doka failed to convert from the same.
Jerry Lalrinzuala – 6.5
Jerry’s performance has significantly improved as he demonstrated proficiency in executing precise short passes. Moreover, he displayed a commendable tactical approach to clearances after gaining valuable experience in the game.
Ahmed Jahouh – 7
Jahouh remained on the field for the entire duration of the game. Despite creating several opportunities through key passes, none of them were converted.
Puitea – 7
During the first half, Puitea was dispossessed in the defensive line, a situation that could have led to a goal had Amrinder not made a crucial save.
Roy Krishna – 7
Roy performed well in the game. The forward persevered to create opportunities but unfortunately was unable to score.
Cy Goddard – 7.5
Goddard was the central figure for Odisha FC in the midfield today. Through timely interceptions, he effectively propelled the game.
Isak Vanlalruatfela – 6.5
Isak executed several expeditions into the attacking third, yet was unable to generate any opportunities conducive to conversion.
Diego Mauricio – 7.5
Mauricio performed admirably in the match, demonstrating prowess in ground duels and consistently posing a threat to the opponent with his rapid incursions into the box.
Substitutes
Princeton Robello – 6
Robello was substituted for Puitea in the 55th minute of the match. His ball control was exceptional in comparison to Puitea during the game.
Aphaoba Singh – 6
Aphaoba seldom displayed proactive involvement in on-field activities during his tenure. He could have enhanced his impact by engaging in more decisive runs through the midfield.
