[Watch] Sergio Lobera, Mark Jackson indulge in heated argument, turns into fight among players in AFC Cup tie
Odisha FC’s AFC Cup dream came to an end after this game.
Sergio Lobera’s Odisha FC played out a 0-0 draw with A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners in the AFC Cup 2023-24 inter-zonal semi-final on 14 March, 2024.
Both teams created chances on either ends, including a penalty miss from Mikael Doka in the first half, but the deadlock was perhaps not to be broken this afternoon. In the first leg of this semi-final, Odisha FC faced a hectic travel to Australia and took the pitch with hardly the required number of training sessions. The result was portrayed on the pitch, as they succumbed to a disastrous 4-0 defeat.
In this home game, the odds were completely against Sergio Lobera’s side and they had a mountain to climb. But as it stands after the conclusion of the fixture, the ISL outfit are bidding adieu to the competition. Central Coast Mariners, led by Mark Jackson, have successfully qualified for the next round of the AFC Cup 2023-24.
Sergio Lobera was seen indulging in a heated argument with Mariners’ boss Mark Jackson at half time. Whether some disciplinary action will be taken against them by the AFC, is now to be seen.
