AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026: Updated points table, most goals after Australia vs India

India lost 4-0 to Australia in AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026

Australia began their AFC U-17 Asian Cup campaign with a thumping win over India. The boys from down under brought their A-game to the table and unleashed a heroic performance on the pitch.

With this win, Australia have sent a statement of intent across the tournament about what they bring to the table. Luke Becvinovski broke the deadlock for the Joeys with just four minutes into the game.

India’s goalkeeper Rajrup Sarkar made a couple of quick saves before Max Court converted his spot kick and put his side in the driver’s seat.

Dallalmuon Gangte and Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam came the closest to scoring a goal for India, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Shah recorded three back-to-back shots on target for India but remained unsuccessful.

Luka Demuth scored the third goal for Australia with a screamer from outside the box in the 74th minute. Henrique Oliveira netted the fourth goal for the title favourites and put the final nail in the coffin as Australia wrapped up a comfortable 4-0 win.

India’s qualification scenario now looks very different because they will now have to win their match against Uzbekistan while hoping Australia also defeat Uzbekistan.
