India lost to China in the quarterfinals of AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026
India bowed out of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 after a heartbreaking defeat to host China in the quarter-final. The Indian team, led by head coach Pamela Conti, displayed some good football with fearless and brave mindset. India finished third in the points table and qualified as the best third-placed team after defeating Lebanon 4-0 with a dominating performance.

3. Alva Devi

The midfielder was one of the bright sparks for India during the tournament and impressed with her energetic performances in the middle of the park and going forward.
Alva Devi also got herself on the scoresheet with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner against Lebanon, giving India a 2-0 lead in the match. Overall, she looked sharp, confident, and showed plenty of promise throughout the campaign.
2. Abhista Basnett

A true leader both on and off the pitch, Abhista Basnett was one of India’s standout performers during the tournament. While the young defender did have a few mistakes at the back, her overall performances were highly impressive and showcased her maturity and character.
Head coach Pamela Conti deservedly handed her the captain’s armband, and she led the side with great passion and determination. Strong in defence and constantly motivating her teammates, Basnett looked like a real wall at the back throughout the campaign and a player who is for the future.
1. Pritika Barman

Pritika Barman was undoubtedly the brightest name to emerge from the tournament for India. The young forward looked sharp, lively, and was arguably India’s best player throughout the campaign.
She scored a brilliant brace against Lebanon, showcasing her quality with two excellent finishes especially the solo goal. A player with immense potential, Pritika looks like a star for the future, and head coach Pamela Conti’s faith in her was fully justified as she delivered when the team needed her the most.
