The India U-20 men’s football team led by head coach Mahesh Gawali gear up for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers as the date comes closer. The Blue Colts’ qualification matches will be played in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 31st August onwards.
The Qualifiers hold tremendous significance as the group winners and the seven best runners-up across all eight groups will qualify for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup China 2027. India have already played a couple of friendlies as part of the preparations and arrived in Tashkent on Thursday afternoon.

India’s squad for the Qualifiers

The India U-20 men’s football team head coach Mahesh Gawali has named his 23-player squad for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
Compared to the previously announced 30-player squad for the Singapore friendlies, eight players were released for either technical or injury related issues: Shuhaid Koya Thangal PS, Arshvir Singh, Ashik Adhikari, Dallalmuon Gangte, Levis Zangminlun, Agastya Bhat, Nirupam Gowda H and Yohaan Benjamin.
Meanwhile, Daniyal Makakmayum has joined the squad.
Goalkeepers: Jaskaran Dub, Pranav Sundarraman, Suraj Singh Aheibam.
Defenders: Asher Rebello, Bungson Singh Takhellambam, Karish Soram, Malemngamba Singh Thokchom, Sumit Sharma Brahmacharimayum, Yaipharemba Chingakham.
Midfielders: Aniket Yadav, Danny Meitei Laishram, Md Arbash, Rishi Singh Ningthoukhongjam, Rishikanta Meitei Laishram, Samson Ahongshangbam, Shami Singamayum.
Forwards: Daniyal Makakmayum, Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam, Hateem Ali, Omang Dodum, Prashan Jajo, Rohen Singh Chaphamayum, Vishal Yadav.
India’s AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers schedule
The India U-20 men’s football team have been drawn in the Group B of the Qualifiers alongside Syria, Bangladesh and hosts Uzbekistan. India will need to perform well to book their place in the same tournament as these teams will be a tough challenge for the Blue Colts.
The Blue Colts will first face Syria on August 31st at 4:30 pm IST, hosts Uzbekistan on September 3rd at 7:30 pm IST, and conclude their group stage campaign against Bangladesh on September 6tg at 4:30 pm IST.
August 31 (4:30 pm IST): Syria vs India, Do’stlik Stadium, Tashkent
September 3 (7:30 pm IST): India vs Uzbekistan, Do’stlik Stadium, Tashkent
September 6 (4:30 pm IST): India vs Bangladesh, Do’stlik Stadium, Tashkent
