The Indian U-20 National Football Team earned a well-deserved 3-0 win against the Bangladesh U-20 National Football Team on the 6th of September at the Do’stlik Stadium, Uzbekistan, as part of their AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
A first-half goal from Danny and two second-half goals from Vishal Yadav and Arbash helped the Blue Colts to seamlessly cruise over the Bangladeshi side.
With this win, India have ended their qualification campaign with two wins and a loss and are currently placed in the second position with six points.
After a disappointing loss, India rose to the occasion and secured a win in a do-or-die match to strengthen their qualification chances.

India, throughout the match, had the steering wheel and dominated in almost every aspect of the game, be it attacking or defending.
While the initial minutes felt like Indian players were missing their goal-scoring boots, they came in full vigor in the 25th minute, and from then Bangladesh never had a chance in the game. In the second half, a strong performance saw India score two more goals and secure the much-needed win.
With 2 wins in three matches, India are currently in the 2nd position of the Group B table of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers and have almost secured their qualification to the main tournament.
They will now have to hope that Uzbekistan U-20 beat Syria U-20 in their upcoming match, and India can then finish among the best seven 2nd-placed teams.
Indian domination in the attack
Right from the very first touch, the Blue Colts were constantly knocking on Bangladesh’s doors with their offensive initiatives. They led the line well, kept pressing on the opponents, forced errors and created threats for Bangladesh in the final third.
Despite a few moments, Bangladesh failed to put India to the test as they struggled to finish. Meanwhile, India, on the other hand, capitalised on the shaky defensive backline of Bangladesh. In the 25th minute, this paid dividends for India as Danny Laishram produced a slick finish to break the deadlock and take the lead.
Later, in the second half, despite Bangladesh starting the game on an attacking note, it soon went up in smoke as India scored their second goal off Vishal Yadav, who scored an acrobatic goal off a throw-in.
However, the hunger did not end as Arbash, who came in as a substitute, scored the third goal and sealed the game for the Blue Colts.

Before the game, India had only scored one goal and that too a late goal against Syria in their opening match. Apart from that, no goals were scored in the qualifiers campaign. However, in this game, that drought was broken. The Blue Colts were tactically superior, physically dominant, and this led to them scoring three brilliant goals.
The first goal came in the 25th minute, when Hateem forced an error from the opponent after a well-timed press and delivered the ball into the 18-yard box to Danny, who made no mistake in breaking the deadlock.
Later, after multiple attempts, Vishal Yadav rose above the opponents and took an acrobatic shot of a throw-in, which the opponent keeper just had to watch go past him inside the net as a spectator, as India doubled their delight and extended their lead.
The final nail in the coffin came in the 79th minute as Arbash lurked inside the opponent’s box and kept his eyes on the ball to unleash a banger, which hit the crossbar and shook the net and sealed the victory for India.
Refereeing errors cost India more goals
Throughout the game, the Bangladeshi players were consistently committing fouls on the Indian players, and somehow, the referee never called any of those fouls.
In the first half, there were at least half a dozen incidents where the Bangladeshi players ruthlessly committed deliberate fouls on the Indian players at some dangerous positions and even committed a handball offence inside the penalty box in front of the referee.
However, ironically, not a single one of them was called by the referee, and this cost India two or even more goal-scoring opportunities.
